Compound Interest Calculator UK (compoundinterestcalculatoruk.co.uk) is a mathematical calculation tool and educational information portal provided strictly for illustrative purposes. Nothing on this website constitutes financial, investment, pension, legal, or tax advice.
1. Non-Regulated Information Portal
We are not authorized or regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and we do not provide regulated investment services, credit broking, or personalized financial advice under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA).
No information on this site should be interpreted as an offer, recommendation, endorsement, or solicitation to buy, sell, or hold any financial instrument, security, share, index tracker fund, cryptocurrency, or savings deposit product.
2. Capital at Risk & Investment Uncertainty
When utilizing our calculators to model stock market, equity index, or fund compounding:
- The value of investments and the income from them can fall as well as rise. You may receive back significantly less than you originally invested.
- Past performance is no guarantee or reliable indicator of future returns. Historical average annual returns (such as 7% or 10%) are mathematical long-term averages. In reality, year-to-year investment returns can be volatile, experiencing deep temporary or permanent drawdowns.
- Unlike cash savings held in UK banks protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £85,000 per eligible institution, investment capital exposed to stock markets carries inherent risk of market loss.
3. Theoretical Nature of Calculator Projections
The compounding outputs generated by our software tools are hypothetical simulations based entirely upon constant, user-defined interest rates and recurring contribution inputs:
- They assume a constant rate of return over the entire chosen multi-year horizon, which rarely occurs in real-world financial markets.
- They do not automatically deduct ongoing platform fees, fund expense ratios (OCF/TER), transaction charges, account holding fees, or currency conversion spreads unless specifically accounted for in your custom rate input.
- They do not adjust for sequence-of-returns risk, which can significantly alter the actual final pot size if market downturns occur early or late in the compounding journey.
4. Inflation & Purchasing Power Disclosures
Unless explicitly utilizing our real vs nominal comparison adjustments, calculations display future values in nominal pounds (£). Over extended timeframes (such as 10, 20, or 30 years), inflation (as measured by CPI or RPI) will reduce the real purchasing power of the final projected sum. A future pot of £500,000 in 30 years will purchase substantially fewer goods and services than £500,000 does today.
5. UK Taxation & Regulatory Changes
Tax rules, statutory allowances (including the £20,000 annual ISA limit, Personal Savings Allowance, Capital Gains Tax exemptions, and pension annual allowances), and HMRC regulations are subject to legislative change and depend on individual financial circumstances. We make no guarantee that existing tax shelters or allowances mentioned on this website will remain unchanged in future UK budgets.
6. Recommendation to Seek Regulated Independent Advice
If you are unsure about your personal financial strategy, tax liability, or investment decisions, you should consult an independent financial adviser regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
You can verify the credentials of any UK financial adviser on the official FCA Financial Services Register or find accredited UK advisers via Unbiased or VouchedFor.
